The multiple barrier system that combines the proven efficiency of cloth media filtration with the additional security of ultrafiltration membranes — delivering direct-reuse quality effluent with maximum protection against pathogens and particles.
The AquaMB Process® combines two proven processes in a single integrated system: first, cloth media filtration (AquaDisk® or similar) removes suspended solids and turbidity from secondary effluent; then ultrafiltration membranes (ceramic or polymeric Aqua MultiBore® modules) provide an absolute barrier against pathogens, protozoa, and residual colloids.
This multiple barrier concept meets the most restrictive water reuse standards at municipal and industrial level, including international standards such as WHO guidelines, EPA criteria, and EU 2020/741. Cloth media pre-treatment significantly reduces the load on UF membranes, extending their service life and reducing CIP frequency.
Dual barrier guarantees removal of solids, pathogens, protozoa, and viruses for safe direct reuse.
Cloth pre-filtration protects UF membranes, reducing fouling and CIP frequency.
Meets the most stringent municipal and industrial reuse standards — WHO, EPA, EU 2020/741.
The process begins with secondary effluent passing through the cloth media filter (1st barrier), which removes remaining suspended solids and reduces turbidity below 5 NTU. The pre-filtered effluent is then sent to the ultrafiltration system (2nd barrier), where tubular membranes with 0.04 μm pores block pathogens, protozoa, and residual colloids.
The resulting permeate has turbidity below 1 NTU and is ready for direct reuse in various applications, or can be sent to an additional UV disinfection or chlorination stage to meet specific microbiological standards. Both stages are automatically backwashed/cleaned by an integrated PLC.
TSS removal and turbidity reduction to < 5 NTU. Pre-treats effluent for the membranes.
0.04 μm membranes block pathogens, protozoa, and colloids. Turbidity < 1 NTU.
